An individually designed major is motivated by the learner's own goals and guided by a roadmap the student develops in close consultation with faculty. Its objective is to foster explicit interdisciplinary study, providing a mechanism to design a major that intentionally integrates different methodologies, topics, disciplinary cultures, and learning styles.
